Richard Kenny is the founder and managing partner of Hawkwood Biotech Partners, a consulting group that has brought together one of the most talented and experienced teams of industrial biotech and foodtech specialists, to assist young companies with their commercial and technical scaling challenges. Through Hawkwood’s collaboration with Genoa Ventures, Rich also serves as Venture Partner at Genoa, focusing on industrial biotech and foodtech investments.
After completing his thesis in bioengineering of enzymes at Oxford, Rich spent the early part of his career helping finance young companies with Numis Securities, London’s leading mid-market investment bank.
Upon receiving his MBA from UC Berkeley, Rich joined Solazyme, Inc. (now part of Corbion NV), where he built and led the company’s business analytics function. Latterly, he served as product line director for the launch of Solazyme’s successful omega-3 product, AlgaPrime DHA.
In 2017, Rich founded Hawkwood, in order to help the next generation of industrial biotech companies learn from the shortcomings of the last. He serves on the board, and in senior finance and business development roles for a number of the most exciting companies in the space.
